Niki Taylor

Favorite Picture Of the Day!Not only do I claim this picture to be my favorite of the week, but it's Niki Taylor, from my teenage years... Seventeen magazine favorite model... Remember her. I love her. She looks amazing. My hero.
Most moms like me, might struggle to lose post-pregnancy pounds with two growing sons in the house. Niki Taylor says of her 15-year-old twins, Hunter and Jake. “They eat cinnamon rolls, cereal — basically teenager food.” But Taylor, 36, stuck to her own mom food — a healthy diet of oatmeal sprinkled with berries, and chicken broiled in coconut oil — that has helped the model lose 59 lbs. — going from 197 lbs. to 138 lbs. — since giving birth to her daughter Ciel, now 13 months. (Dad is race car driver Burney Lamar, 29).
If Taylor finds herself craving a cinnamon roll too, she limits herself to one bite — or else.
“If I have dessert, I spend a half an hour more exercising,” says the 5’11″ model, who spends 30 minutes a day doing cardio — walking, jogging or on a gym treadmill. “So I would rather just have the bite than work out an hour!”

Hunter, Burney, Ciel, Niki and Jake – Russ Harrington for PEOPLE
As for weight training? Well, that’s just a part of motherhood. “I’m lifting a 25-lb. baby, her stroller and a diaper bag,” she says. “That’s a workout.”
She looks great, my winner of the week!

For The Mommies Out There

Having a colicky baby as a new mom can be stressful. Coddlelife introduces us to one way to cut down on colic due to gas with its BPA-free bottle featuring a unique one-piece venting system that cuts down on gas, spit up and ear infections. That's music to a mom's ears!

The venting system incorporated into the bottle prevents baby from swallowing too much air by redirecting it through an opening at the bottom of the vent. In addition, the peristaltic nipple is made to simulate breastfeeding via shape, texture, and the way milk is delivered into baby's mouth, making switching between nursing and bottle feeding easy.

Coddlelife bottles are non-toxic, and BPA, lead, PVC and Phthalates free. Plus you can microwave them, and they are dishwasher safe. With its simple design, cleaning is a cinch as there's nothing to break down, disassemble, or reassemble. Easy to use and easy to clean. Just what moms need!Price: $6.99

Healthy Food To Help Weight Lose

Here is my healthy breakfast of the day!
Fuel up to focus: eat eggs + whole-wheat toast for breakfast to stay focused for hours!
20 superfoods for weight loss
Steak
Beef has a rep as a diet buster, but eating it may help you peel off pounds. In a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, women on a diet that included red meat lost more weight than those eating equal calories but little beef. "The protein in steak helps you retain muscle mass during weight loss," says study author Manny Noakes, Ph.D. Try to consume local organic beef; it's healthier for you and the environment.
Eat more Grill or broil a 4-ounce serving of top round or sirloin; slice thinly to top a salad, or mix with veggies for fajitas.
Eggs
Dig in to eggs, yolks and all: They won't harm your heart, but they can help you trim inches. Women on a low-calorie diet who ate an egg with toast and jelly each morning lost twice as many pounds as those who had a bagel breakfast with the same number of calories but no eggs, a study from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge reports. "Egg protein is filling, so you eat less later in the day," says David Grotto, R.D., author of 101 Foods That Could Save Your Life (Bantam).
Eat more Omelets and scrambles are obvious choices, but if you can't cook before work, bake a frittata on Sunday; chill it and nuke slices for up to a week. An easy recipe: Vegetable Frittata.
Kale
Long sidelined as a lowly garnish, this green belongs center stage on your plate. One raw chopped cup contains 34 calories and about 1.3 grams of fiber, as well as a hearty helping of iron and calcium. But kale's earthy flavor might take some getting used to. Spinach, another nutrient powerhouse, is a milder-tasting option.
Oats
"Oatmeal has the highest satiety ranking of any food," Grotto says. "Unlike many other carbohydrates, oats—even the instant kind—digest slowly, so they have little impact on your blood sugar." All oats are healthful, but the steel-cut and rolled varieties (which are minimally processed) have up to 5 grams of fiber per serving, making them the most filling choice. Instant oats contain 3 to 4 grams per serving.
Eat more "Instead of using breadcrumbs, add oats to meat loaf—about 1 cup for a recipe that serves eight," Iserloh recommends. Or try her recipe for turkey and oatmeal meatballs.
Lentils
Lentils are a bona fide belly flattener. "They're high in protein and soluble fiber, two nutrients that stabilize blood sugar levels," says Tanya Zuckerbrot, R.D., author of The F-Factor Diet (Putnam Adult). "Eating them helps prevent insulin spikes that cause your body to create excess fat, especially in the abdominal area."

Lock In The Moisture Ladies.

Beauty Tip For The Changes Of Weather.

As temperatures drop and central heating systems blast, the humidity in the air plummets," explains New-York-based dermatologist Dr. Hadley King of winter's drying effects on skin.

"The result is increased trans-epidermal water loss: these dry conditions suck moisture out of the skin. This leaves skin feeling dry, tight, itchy, dull and ashy." But getting skin soft requires a simple shift in your beauty routine.

"Apply [moisturizer] immediately after a bath or shower to lock in the moisture." Dr. King suggests budget-friendly Nelsons Pure & Clear Nourishing Moisturizer for the face and Aquaphor Healing Ointment for the body.

How Often Should You Workout

Good Afternoon Lovies,

I am thinking that we should all set a goal today... of not only shedding a few pounds but in getting healthy!!! Let's do this together readers... Who is with me on this? Let us start by being healthy people ... and while we are working on being healthy we shed some pounds, in which will make us look even more fabulous than what we already are. E-mail me your weekly healthy, exercise goal achievement, even if it was just changing your eating habit this week, or if you lost a pound, let us support each other.

How Often Should I Exercise?
The benefits of any exercise program will diminish if it's disrupted too frequently. A "stop-start" routine is not only ineffective, but can cause injuries. Being consistent with exercise, therefore, is probably the most important factor in achieving desired results.

People often assume that more is better. Wrong! Doing too much too soon or performing intense exercises on a daily basis will have deleterious effects, such as muscle/tendon strains, loss of lean tissue, and fitness-level plateaus.

If you are a beginner, start off slower than you think you should. Three days per week is realistic, safe and effective. If you are experienced, do cardiovascular (aerobic) exercises such as walking, jogging and bicycling for no more than 200 minutes per week with no more than 60 minutes per session.

Weight training should be done no more than three times per week targeting the same muscle groups. Exercise the same muscle groups on non-consecutive days because muscles need adequate time to recover and cannot be effectively trained if they are tired or sore.

Many people forget to stretch or make the excuse that they don't have the time. Flexibility is important, so make the time! Stretching can be done every day, but stick to a minimum of three times per week in order to reap the benefits. When the body is warmed up, such as after a workout session, perform five to 10 stretches that target the major muscle groups. Hold each stretch for 10-30 seconds.
