Niki Taylor and Mommy's and their families.

Supermodel Niki Taylor has faced many challenges in her thirty-five years. The mom-of-three married young, had her twin boys at age 19, lost her teenage sister at 20, faced a divorce at 21, and was critically injured in a car accident at 26.

Taylor has now settled into a comfortable life in Brentwood, Tennessee with her husband of three years, NASCAR driver Burney Lamar. The couple welcomed their first child together, daughter Ciel Taylor in March 2009 to join big brothers Jake and Hunter, now 15. In an interview with Mom Magazine, the happy mom opened up about raising teenagers, babies, and the possibility of having another child.

On keeping her children grounded: "They’ve gotta know right from wrong right from the start. Right now with Ciel, it’s “No don’t touch that,” “No don’t put that in your mouth” and “Please, thank you, and may I.” So we’re a broken record right now, but we did the same thing with Jake and Hunter. I think faith is very important and it starts at a very young age. You have to believe in somethin’. And it’s so important to help others, get outside yourself, volunteer, and donate whatever you can."

On her hopes for her children: "I hope they don’t rush into anything and take their time with decisions. I want them just to be true to themselves and just to do what makes them happy."

On having a fourth child: "We’ve been talking about having another baby. It would be nice to give her a little brother or sister pretty soon. Plus I’m not a spring chicken anymore."

How To Minimize Stretch Marks

Most of us have stretch marks, due to different reasons, weight changes, muscle gain, pregnancy, etc.. since we are in bathing suit season I wanted to post a few steps on how to minimize the stretch mark appearance. Enjoy lovies.

Step 1
Apply stretch mark lotion or cream over the affected areas at least twice a day. The lotion or cream should include a mixture of cocoa butter, Vitamin E, collagen, elastin and shea butter to be effective. These ingredients help lubricate the skin in order for it to retain its natural elasticity and moisture. It also helps relieve dryness associated with stretched skin.

Step 2
Use chemical peels, similar to those used in removing age spots and wrinkles. Apply the solution over the stretch marks using sponge, cotton swabs, cotton pads or brush. Wait for the solution to dry, then wash it off completely, removing the excess with oil or body lotion. You would feel some tingling sensations coming from the solution depending on the concentration of the solution used. The solution removes the dead skin, allowing the skin to regenerate. This procedure does not remove the stretch marks completely--it simply fades them away.

Step 3
Have a dermatologist perform microdermabrasion. This method uses fine crystals to blast the outermost layers of the skin, which results in the removal of dead skin. Healthy skin cells regenerate, replacing the dead skin. Microdermabrasion is a painless procedure and takes only one hour per session. To achieve good results, you must undergo anywhere from five to 12 sessions. Microdermabrasion does not permanently remove the stretch marks, but helps make them less prominent.

Step 4
Get a blue light therapy, which is a process that makes use of a photosensitive gel applied over the stretch marks, and then exposed to some bursts of light energy. This process will not completely remove the stretch marks, but will help make them less noticeable.

Step 5
Consult with a dermatologist about undergoing laser stretch mark removal procedure. An example of such procedure is by using excimer laser, which is the same laser used for eye laser procedure known as Lasik. It uses high-energy UV (ultra-violet) laser light to disintegrate the tissue, removing the stretch marks. Upon completion, the healing process follows with the appearance of new healthy skin.

Live and Love

Happy Tuesday Lovers,

This weekend was my birthday, and I celebrated my birthday with most of the people I love and cherish, this is for you all, live and love because you only live once.

It’s only human nature to want what we can’t have – you know, something along the lines of that good old adage about “the grass being greener on the other side.” It is the unattainable that seduces us – it provides for us a challenge, a bit of mystery, and injection of interesting in comparison to what we already know and have. The majority of us live what we see as normal. Boring. Monotonous. We pine over the intangible, making ourself sick over material things, places, people that aren’t obtainable. We obsess and dedicate our lives to owning whatever it is we want, and can’t have.

And in that process we forget to appreciate what we do have, and what truly is best for us.

Let’s look at love (or lust) for instance; why is it that centuries of human romanticists have yearned for unrequited love? It’s seductive, it’s tantalizing, it’s interesting. It brings excitement to our otherwise boring lives – what fun is love returned? It’s expected, and so we take that unconditional love for granted.

We must be grateful for what we have, and what is given to us. The birds can fly anywhere on this Earth, and yet they choose to stay in the same place. Is it because they have seen the world when they were young, and have come to appreciate what they were first provided with? Perhaps – perhaps we should follow in their lead, and do the same. Let yourself see the world. Let yourself see, touch, feel, taste, hear the world, and experience every bit of it. Be adventurous and travel the world. Appreciate those who love you, and what is given to you – but that is not to say that you should simply accept that as everything. What you are given is meant to ground you, to give you a source on which you can rely upon. But what you are also given is potential to achieve.

Live with gratitude; whether noted mentally or listed, know what you are thankful for. Remember that, but also remember you only live once.
