Halloween Week

Since we have approached the week ending in Halloween, everyday I have been trying to bake or cook something related to Halloween. I have called it the A's and R's Halloween week spirit. Here is a cake I baked. I will also post pics as the week goes by of what I have done.

This is fun for my kids they love it and enjoy it a lot, plus this is a way to interact with them and have my time.

Halloween Candy Tips

My Halloween Candy Tips

Halloween comes only once a year and I let my kids enjoy all the fanfare and candy collecting glory of it. Nevertheless, I do try to bring some balance to the candy overdose and I try to circumvent the aftermath. Halloween may be just one evening, but the candy remains tempting us day after day. So here are some tips for a healthy Halloween.

Eat healthy before you trick or treat: Have a healthy snack before trick-or-treating and have a nu warm supper afterward. Have plenty of healthier foods available before and along the route so that little tummies are not hungry. And after the walk in the cold, the trick-or-treaters are ready for something warm when they get back. I normally prepare my son what i call Spanish style oatmeal, he loves it and this keeps him warm, and it is very healthy. Before setting off, parents should emphasize the safety rules, including the one about parental review of candies before anything can be consumed, my 2 kids are not huge candy eaters but they will eat a few that leads them into stomach pains, for this reason and safety as well we review and inspect our candies.

Sort and share: When the kids were younger, the candy fairy would visit us Halloween night and make most of the loot disappear. Now I involve the kids in the discussion. We keep some, but we share the rest, i take them to my job lol, however; this year we if bring a lot of treats we will donate a few to the Family Shelter.

Portion control and healthy sides: If you say no to all and any candy, you’ll end up making it even more attractive. Instead, keep an eye on the portions. If your child wants to have the mini-chocolate bar, offer it with a glass of milk. That way you balance the empty calories with something nutritious. (By the way, dark chocolate is heart healthy and it’s mine when it comes into the house. I share.

Store candy wisely. I used to put some of the leftover candy in a pretty bowl and set them out. Guess who ended up consuming most of them — me, myself and I. So now I put some in out-of-the-way places — high cabinets and shelves, behind things. Most of the time, it’s out of sight and out of mind. But if I get a desperate craving, enough to make me climb on a step-stool, move and replace the glassware well, then I earned it. But the best idea is point 2 — get it out of the house.

Hope you enjoyed a few of my Halloween tips. Until next time, happy Halloween and happy eating!

I love coffee, especially Monday morning. Now let's chat. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend.. As for me I did, between football games and guest over both Friday and Saturday my weekend was a great one.

I'll share something with you guys, I have been trying my best to sit and give thanks for every and each day that I wake up with my family next to me. I strongly believe that at times we take life for granted and as much as i try to blog about techniques for a happier you or to release some stress, I have come to terms that although all my posting and blogs of techniques work and are very true, nothing feels better than talking to god and giving thanks for each day that we are blessed to wake up with our families next to us. And today i want to give thanks to that.

Now lets get started with the blogging.

One of the most special seasons of the year is fall or autumn which allows for individuals to enjoy the changing colors of the leaves on the trees and the leaves falling on the ground.

As the weather cools down from the summer season there are still ways to enjoy the season.

These are my reason as to why I enjoy the fall.

  • Fashion Fashion and more Fashion... i love fashion.
  • Changing up my wardrobe and purchasing new clothes that have come for fall. There is nothing more fun than and sporting new fashionable clothes.
  • Re-decorating my home, with Holiday decor and colors.
  • Taking walks or going for a hike in the park that has many trees so that i can see and enjoy the sight of all the colors of leaves, along with the leaves on the ground. Enjoy stepping on the leaves, collecting foliage, and hearing the crunch of them under your feet as i walk.
  • Picking out pumpkin and carving it out. Basically turn it into a event that involves all of the family or friends.
  • Meeting my girl friends for Brunch or coffee and dressing stylish with a fashionable scarf a cool hat and some stylish boots.
  • Bundling up and going to the football filed to watch my son play with his football team.
  • Enjoying eating fall desserts such as apple, and pumpkin pies. Trying new recipes or create new recipes and share it with friends and or family.
  • Ever since my son started playing football and my man is such a Giants fan, I didn't have much of a choice but get involved and learn football, therefore; I am enjoying watching the fall season sports.
I love the Summer but the Fall gets us prepared to share more indoor intimate family time. I love it. Hopefully you all are enjoying your fall just as much as i am.

Instilling Organization In Your Childs Life

Today I had a conversation with my son, and here was the topic, how to be organized. I saw him a bit stressed with school work, and juggling sports. Football is almost an everyday responsibility he has practice 4 days a week and games Saturday, Sunday and at times Monday's, between all this in my home taking time to study and doing good in school is PRIORITY number 1. therefore, i was teaching him on how being organized can help him with everything mentally and physically, with this being said here are 5 ways on how to teach your child on being organized.

1. Set up a Designated Study Space — Make sure there's an area of your house just for homework, with all the supplies she/he needs in bins and boxes. Provide plenty of space for books and set up baskets for papers so your child can find old homework to review for tests.

2. Color Code Subjects — Buy school supplies for each subject in a different color, so your child can see at a glance which folder, notebook, and binder has to do with which subject.

3. Create a Cubby Hole at Home — Place a crate or sturdy box near your front door so your child can keep his backpack and other school items in one spot. Teach him to put anything he needs for the next day in that place as well. That way, he'll know where his stuff is when he's looking for it.

4. Use a Calendar — Give your child a date book or other portable calendar that she/he can bring with her to school. Teach him to write down assignments, tests, play dates, lessons, and other plans regularly. Also have him write down her classmates' phone numbers and e-mail addresses so he can find and contact them easily, this is if their school does not have a website.

5. Set a Good Example — If you keep things neat and organized in your own life, your child is more likely to follow suit. If he has trouble making "to-do" lists, sit down and make one alongside him. Seeing you turn off the TV at a regular time to pay bills or even just to read will show him the importance of setting aside time to do things and sticking to it.

6. Keep a family calendar. Track everyone's activities on a prominent and accessible calendar, encouraging your child to write her own entries and reference the calendar when making plans. You also might consider checking schedules and updating the calendar as a family over Sunday breakfast.

7. Introduce checklists. Whether it's as simple as "3 Things To Do Before Bed" or "What To Take On Vacation," creating and referring to lists together will develop your child's ability to strategize tasks and organize his time

8. Use containers and closet organizers. If there's a place for everything, she'll find it easier to find items, keep neat, and clean up. Build "pick up" time into the daily routine.

9. Reward and provide support with organizational tasks. Your child may find organizing a challenge, so help her develop her routine and give her a treat for jobs well done!

10. Organized life, means organized mind and happy stressless life!

Morning Gossip

Good Morning Lovies, Hope you all did some meditation this morning and challenged your inner peace for a day of happiness. Now with my cafesito in hand and my magazines near by I start my little blogging gossip segment!

So I hear Christina Aguilera and Husband Jordan split up? Wow this is shocking to me, Christina always talked about her husband as her strengh and back bone basically... well good luck to them both in their new journey apart.

David and Courtney Cox are separated as well, what is going on, why do celebs even get married if they are going to split before the 5 year mark?

Finding Your Inner Peace and Calmness

These days I have learn how to control my life, between disappointments, happiness and life issues we learn to grow mentally and even physically, life has taught me so much specially lately, i have learn that we are surrounded by so much and so many people that it is actually shocking of whom are those there for you, sometimes you think family, but in all reality at times someone else may do more that your own blood... right now lets just be thankful for the people we have in our lives today. I am learning the techniques of trying to always stay positive, love, learn, move on and set aside negativity, with this being said today I am learning the techniques of Inner peace, where as I canhave self control my happiness and maintain the calmness , that at this moment i am experiencing! and I am learning by trying to gain inner peace.

To gain inner peace we must learn to control our thoughts. It is our own thoughts which can take us to heaven or hell – no matter where we are on earth. We have to reject thoughts of jealousy, pride and insecurity. If we, even subconsciously, cherish these emotions then peace will be a far cry. It is when we cultivate good / uplifting thoughts that we can avoid the mental disturbance that is so harmful to inner peace.

Another issues which is always very important is the idea that we have to want inner peace – it is only when we truly value the life of peace that we will work to make it happen. If we don’t value inner peace – how can we expect to have a peaceful life?

Whatever is going on in your mind is what you are attracting

We are like magnets - like attract like. You become AND attact what you think

Every thought has a frequency. Thoughts send out a magnetic energy

People think about what they don't want and attract more of the same.
Thought = creation. If these thoughts are attached to powerful emotions (good or bad) that speeds the creation.

You attract your dominant thoughts

You can't have a universe without the mind entering into it.

Choose your thoughts carefully .. you are a masterpiece of your life

EVERYTHING in your life you have attracted .. accept that fact ..
